What we collect on this website, why, and what happens to it.

Who we are

This website is operated by ABICO Trading Co., 69 Fareed Semeika St., Hegaz Square, Heliopolis, Cairo, Egypt. If you have a question about anything on this page, email servicedesk@abicotrading.com or call +20 2 2241 7777.

What we collect when you contact us

The quotation forms on this site — on the contact page, the HP printers page and the managed print page — are the same form, and they send us your name, company, phone number and email address, the categories you tick, and anything you write in the message box. If you open the optional Fleet or multi-site order section, they also send the number of devices, how many sites you have and where, your timescale, and your procurement route. The submission carries the page you sent it from, and a hidden field used to filter out automated spam.

You send us these details in order to get a quotation, and that is what we use them for. We do not treat sending a form as agreement to anything else: we will not add you to a mailing list, and we will not use your details for a different purpose without asking you first. You can tell us to stop and to delete them at any time — see Your rights.

The form is delivered by Web3Forms, which passes the submission to our sales@abicotrading.com mailbox and also keeps its own copy, for up to three years, under its own privacy policy. That retention is Web3Forms' decision rather than ours, though we can delete recent submissions from their dashboard on request.

Inquiries that reach us by email or WhatsApp are held in our accounts on Microsoft 365 and WhatsApp for as long as we are doing business with you, and for as long afterwards as we are required to keep commercial records. If an inquiry does not lead to business and you would rather we did not keep it, ask us and we will delete it.

What this website records while you browse

We use Google Analytics, loaded on every page by Google Tag Manager, to understand how many people visit, which pages they read and which sources they arrive from. Analytics is what sets cookies in your browser — _ga and _ga_…; Tag Manager itself sets none. This runs on every page you open, whatever you do next.

We also use Meta Pixel, loaded on every page by the same tag manager, so we can tell which of our Facebook and Instagram advertisements bring people here and which of them lead to an inquiry. It sets two cookies of its own: _fbp, which marks your browser, and _fbc, which holds the click identifier carried on an advertisement link. One difference between this and Analytics is worth stating plainly. We send Meta no name, address or number — but Meta does not need one from us. If you are signed in to Facebook or Instagram in the same browser, your browser attaches Meta's own cookies to the request the pixel makes; and if you arrived by clicking one of our advertisements, the click identifier tells Meta whose click it was. Either way Meta can attribute the visit to your account. We cannot: what reaches us is counts. The same mechanism is described in Meta's own cookies policy.

Two things go further than counting visits, and you should know about both.

  • Contact taps are recorded. Tapping a telephone, WhatsApp or email link, or sending a form, is logged as an event: which method you chose and which page you were on. The conversation itself is never recorded, and a tap does not tell us your number. If you dial our number from your own phone rather than tapping the link, nothing about it reaches this website or any service outside Egypt.
  • The page you came from travels with your message. If you tap one of our WhatsApp or email buttons, the site adds a short reference to the end of the message it opens for you — the name of the page you were on — so we can tell what your inquiry is about before we reply. It is visible in the message before you send, and you can delete it. Nothing identifying you or the advertisement you clicked is added.

Both of those events are reported to Meta as well as to Analytics: Meta is told that a visit reached that point and which page it happened on. What you typed is not included. Your name, company, telephone number, email address and message go to us and to the form service, and to nobody else.

While an advertising campaign is running, our agency may place further measurement tags — from Google Ads, for example — through the same tag manager. Tags can be added or removed without any change to this website or to this page, so if you need to know exactly what was running on a given date, ask us and we will tell you.

Cookies, storage and what the notice does

The notice at the bottom of the page tells you that analytics is in use. Dismissing it records that you have seen it; it does not switch anything on or off, because measurement begins when the page loads.

Besides the Analytics cookies, the site keeps two small values in your browser's own storage: whether you have dismissed that notice, and whether it has already appeared during this visit. They stay on your device, are never sent to us or to anyone else, and clearing your browser data removes them.

On a desktop browser, Google's opt-out add-on stops Analytics data being sent. Blocking or clearing cookies stops Analytics recognising you on a return visit, but the measurement request is still made, and there is no switch on this site that turns measurement off. Blocking cookies does not stop you using any part of the site — with one effect: if you block site data altogether we cannot record that you dismissed the cookie notice, so it will keep reappearing.

How long measurement data is kept

In Google Analytics we set user-level and event-level data to expire after 14 months, restarting when the same visitor returns. Google keeps aggregated reporting beyond that. The Analytics cookie itself can last up to two years in your browser unless you clear it.

What Meta receives is kept on Meta's own schedule under Meta's own policy, not ours. The _fbp and _fbc cookies it sets last about three months in your browser unless you clear them.

Where your information is processed

Most of the services this website depends on operate outside Egypt, so using it involves information being transferred abroad:

  • Google Tag Manager is contacted on every page load, before any measurement decision is made.
  • Google Analytics processes measurement data outside Egypt, on every page you open.
  • Google Fonts serves the typeface this site is set in. It sets no cookie, but your IP address reaches Google whenever a page loads, whether or not you ever contact us.
  • Web3Forms processes and stores form submissions outside Egypt.
  • Meta is contacted by the pixel on every page you open, wherever you are, and processes what it receives outside Egypt.
  • WhatsApp is operated by the same company, and our email runs on Microsoft 365 — both also outside Egypt.
  • The website is hosted for us by Cloud Smartly, on a server in Finland. Its access logs record visitors' IP addresses in the ordinary way, as any web server's do.

What we do not do

  • We do not sell or rent your details to anyone.
  • We do not take payment on this website, so we never handle card details here.
  • We do not ask you for personal details beyond what we need to prepare your quotation. Measurement, described above, applies to everyone who visits.

Your rights

You can ask us to:

  • tell you what personal data we hold about you, and where we got it;
  • correct anything that is wrong or out of date;
  • delete it;
  • stop or restrict what we do with it, or object to a particular use.

Email servicedesk@abicotrading.com and we will deal with it. We will delete what we hold in our own mailbox and files, except where Egyptian commercial and tax law requires us to keep a record of a completed transaction. Where a copy sits with a service provider, we will delete it if we can reach it and ask them to delete it if we cannot, and tell you which it was. You can also complain to Egypt's Personal Data Protection Centre if you believe we have handled your information wrongly.

How we look after it

What you send us is held on business systems with access limited to the people who need it to answer you, and the mail and form services described above are run by established providers. No system is beyond reach, and we do not claim otherwise — but we do not keep more than we need, and if something we hold about you is exposed by a security incident we will tell you, as the law requires.

Changes

If we change how this site collects or uses information, we will change this page and update the date at the top of it.
